A Short Break to the Algarve

Image
The algarve, in my opinion, has some of the nicest beaches I have ever scene. There is something about the cliff faces and the blue sea which make it the perfect destination for a beach holiday. I stayed a twenty minute walk from the centre of Albuferia which is a moderately sized town on the coast. Although it is has some nice restaurants and I was able to easily find supermarkets (I stayed in self-catered accommodation) I found it quite busy and touristy. I did however pay a visit to Vilamoura, which is a pretty harbour town. Although a popular spot, with some large chain hotels I find it a lovely place to wander around and have some gelato overlooking the yachts. The algarve is easy to navigate and I found it easy to get the bus to destinations I needed to visit. There are also plenty of supermarkets and lovely restaurants, specialising in seafood. My biggest recommendation however would be to try a Pasteis de Nata! A lovely custard tart with flaky pastry - beautiful!

24 Hours in Paris

Image
Paris deserves as much time as you can dedicate, however if you only have one night, you can still do Paris justice. For the first day I would recommend visiting the Eiffel Tower, start by visiting Trocadero Gardens to get a full view of the Eiffel Tower. From here, head towards the Arc de Triomphe, here you can climb to the top for a brilliant view of the Eiffel Tower. Although touristy, a walk down the Champs-Elysees is still a must even if just to window-shop! This is also the place to head to Laduree for their famous macarons. Whilst here, pay a visit to the Lourve, although the queue (especially to see the Mona Lisa) are extremely long, so visit early if you wish to see the painting. Then in the evening, take a walk along the Seine River, taking in the sunset. Starting bright and early the next day, start at the Opera house, a beautiful building full of history. Just a couple of streets away is the shop, Galerie Lafayette. Walk to the roof to get amazing free views of t

What Not to Miss in New York

Image
New York, I can safely say, is my favourite place in the world. I truly believe there is something there for everyone. As I write this I am currently planning my next trip to New York for this winter. Having been to New York a few times, but each being in either summer or autumn, experiencing the colder months will be a new experience for me! As my first post on New York, I thought it would be best to focus on all the tourist sites that should not be missed! Although New York has so many amazing places to visit, the tourist spots still deserve to be visited at least once! Here are my top ten 'must-see's' in New York City: 1. Times Square - Although possibly the most 'touristy' location, it is a must see in day and night.   2. Statue of Liberty - I love visiting the statue of liberty, with the option to buy a ticket to take a ferry directly to the Statue of Liberty, or catch the free Staten Island ferry to sail past. 3. Empire State Building - An amazing

A Tourist Day in London

Image
I could spend weeks, even months, in London exploring and I feel as though there would still be more to see. London is a good mix of tourist locations as well as lovely local spots. This post will focus mainly on the brilliant tourist spots! If you are visiting for the day, it is best to plan your day, to ensure you tick off everywhere you wish to see. If arriving from Paddington Station, this is what I would recommend: - First take a trip to Harrods (even if it is just to window shop!) - Then make the short walk to Hyde Park, perfect for a picnic. - From here you can then walk down to Marble Arch, this will be at the end of Oxford Street and if you are feeling ready for a moderate walk I would recommend walking to Piccadilly Circus (if not, there is a tube station at Marble Arch). - From Piccadilly you will then be a nice easy walk from Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square and Embankment (where the London Eye and Big Ben are located). I would recommend going up the London Eye,
